From October, the Local Government will have new leadership

As a result of the local government elections held on 9 June, new leadership will take office on 1 October in Budapest’s District XII. The position of the previous mayor, Zoltán Pokorni (Fidesz-KDNP), who did not participate in the recent election, will be taken by Gergely Kovács, co-chairman of the Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party (MKKP). Candidates from MKKP also won mandates in nine single-member constituencies, furthermore, the joint candidate of MKKP and the Association for the Future of Hegyvidék won in one constituency, and Momentum candidates in two constituencies. From the compensation list, four candidates from Fidesz-KDNP – including the former deputy mayor, Krisztina Fonti, the mayoral candidate of Fidesz-KDNP – and a joint candidate from DK – MSZP – Hungarian Liberal Party (Liberals) will join the new local government assembly.
