Actual news from Hegyvidék

National flags can be requested. On national holidays in Hungary, including March 15th, the anniversary of the beginning of the 1848-49 revolution and war of independence, national flags adorn houses and public buildings throughout the country. In order to raise the number of red-white-green flags in the Hegyvidék, the municipality provides flags and flagpoles free of charge upon request to decorate residential buildings. Claims can be submitted in the e-administration system of the municipality.

New, cheaper transport tariffs. From 1 March, both the monthly Country Pass and the Pest County Pass can be used in Budapest on BKK vehicles. The passes cost 18,900 and 9,450 forints (1,890 and 945 forints for students). The price of a Budapest pass valid for the territory of the capital will be reduced from HUF 9,500 to HUF 8,950. Another change from 1 March is the introduction of the Hungary24 and Vármegye24 day tickets (the price will be HUF 4,999 and HUF 999, respectively), but these are not valid on BKK vehicles in Budapest, only on suburban trains (HÉV), trains and "blue" and "yellow" Volán buses. Green waste collection begins. As spring approaches, green waste collection will start again in Budapest from 4 March. In district XII, leaves, branches, grass or weeds unloaded in decomposable green waste collection bags bearing the FKF logo are removed on Fridays. The aim of the service is not to incinerate or landfill green waste, but to compost it, so that it can be returned to the natural cycle. The 100-litre garden green waste collection bags are currently available at a gross price of HUF 235/piece at FKF customer services and waste collection yards, as well as at many retailers, such as MOL filling stations and some SPAR stores.
