Advent fair. The Municipality of Hegyvidék is organizing its Christmas fair again this year under the title Advent in Hegyvidék. Countless programs await visitors until December 23: every Friday and Saturday, renowned performers give atmospheric early evening concerts, and on weekends, Városháza Square will host concerts, fairy tales, and theater projects for children in the mornings. On Wednesdays, Hegyvidék's preschoolers and junior high school students take the stage with their Christmas shows, and on Sunday afternoons, with the participation of the XII. district churches, a joint Advent candle lighting will take place.
Holiday tram. This year, the BKV holiday tram will start its journey again, and this time it will create the Christmas atmosphere not only with its usual clothe of lights, but with its interior decoration in an Advent atmosphere. The tram also fulfills an important mission: part of the decoration is a QR code, through which you can support the kindergarten for the homeless of the Oltalom (Protection) Association. The Advent Tram runs in the capital every afternoon and evening until Christmas. You can travel with the special tram on line 59, on December 10, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m, in the Hegyvidék.
Award-winning’bejgli’. The traditional poppy seed roll cake of Major Confectionery in Maros utca won a bronze medal at the "Bejgli of the Year" competition of the Hungarian Confectionery Association. This is not the first significant recognition of a Hegyvidék confectionary, in 2013 the Milotai honey peanut brittle cake was chosen as the cake of the country.
Lóránt út has been renewed. The Hegyvidéki Self-Government received a significant non-refundable state grant of one billion forint for road construction. The reconstruction of the lower part of Virányos Road, the development of Zsolna Street and the renovation of Lóránt Road, which is now being completed, were recently realized with this money. The road between Lóránt Isle and Istenhegyi Road was renewed for 370 meters, which means more than 1,500 square meters of asphalt paving.
Movies in English. In CinemaMOM (53 Alkotás St.) you can watch the digitally remastered parts of director Peter Jackson's ten-year-old Hobbit trilogy in 4K quality with Hungarian subtitles - right now The Battle of the Five Armies is on the show. On December 3rd, the concert film of the South Korean boy band NCT will be shown, and on December 8th, you can follow the Nutcracker performance at the Royal Opera House in London live.
Concerts in the Hegyvidék. On December 1, from 8 p.m., pianist Hiroyuki Nakayama will perform compositions by composer Nobuo Uematsu for the video game Final Fantasy in a spectacular production at MOMkult (18 Csörsz St.). On 2 December, from 4.30 pm, the students of pianist János Balázs will give a concert at the Hegyvidék Cultural Salon (2 Törpe St.) as part of the Cziffra Festival. Balázs Winkler will present his chamber pieces for trumpet and piano in the author's evening called Életképek on December 9th from 8 p.m. in the Jókai Club (5 Hollós Rd.) and on December 13th from 6 p.m. in the Hegyvidék Cultural Salon.
Photo and painting exhibition. Levente Baranyai's exhibition opens in the Hegyvidék Gallery (10 Királyhágó Sqr.) on December 1st. On his large canvases, the painter shows landscape and city details from a bird's eye view, using manipulated aerial photographs. Zsolt Venczel 's exhibition Horses of the Galaxy can be viewed at the Hegyvidék Cultural Salon (2 Törpe St.) from December 7th.
